In year's past I taught in a school where there were only two field trips a year (there could have been 3, but I was always wrapped up in my teaching to plan a science field trip). Now I teach in a school where there are plenty of field trips to choose from, and the beauty is that the field trips are from all over the state of Pennsylvania. The latest field trip that I attended was to the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg, PA. When I was asked whether I wanted to go or not, I simply asked if I went that it would be okay if I brought Renae and Logan along with me. They not only said yes, but encouraged me to do that again for the future to show the family to the kids and get to know their families more. Anyways, it was great because I was able to go to the Farm Show for a day of work, Logan was able to see all sorts of animals and things, and Renae was able to spend the day with both of us (getting out of the house)!
The Highlights
Getting a Black and White milkshake that was all too goooood
Stepping in more cow poop that I could ever imagine possible
Getting scared by an alpaca when it shot its head up from the other side of the gate
Watching horse chariot racing
And seeing a sculpture carved from 1,000 pounds of butter...that's right 1/2 ton!!!!
Focus on the Budget
This was actually pretty awesome to think about later in the day, and I thought that I would tie it in since we are trying to dramatically decrease our spending until we get situated in our new financial state. So, here is the breakdown:
Tolls from WC to Harrisburg $5.20
Parking at the PA Farm Show $10.00
Lunch $8.00
(we split a milkshake, had a "chicken cheeses teak", and everyone else around us was gracious enough to share their food with us...so we had more than enough).
Tolls from Harrisburg to WC $5.20
Found change in my car (-$0.40)
Toll reimbursed through work (-$10.00)
Parking reimbursed through work (-$10.00)
Total Spent....$8.00
Logan was straight chillin with his stroller and his sippy cup!
If we were not on a budget freeze right now, I totally would have bought some candy!
There it is ladies and gentleman...imagine a frosty mixed with a vanilla frosty times about 10!!!
At the moment I honestly could not tell you which one I thought was sexier...Renae or the milkshake.
Seeing these tractors brought back fond memories of going to the tractor show as a kid with the family.
One of the students from our school was in the Sheep to Shear contest, these girls and boys literally took the wool from a sheep loomed them into some beautiful blankets...that's an art!
Room for one more?
The alpaca! I kept thinking about Emperor's New Groove when I saw them.
The cutest chick in the building...she kept staring at Logan.
We had a good time walking around and looking at all the animals.
He did eventually start to get tired...he took a nice nap on the ride home.
This rider and his horse we by far the quickest of the bunch.
A nice little black and white photo after they passed by our front row seats.
Another B&W as a team was making its way through the obstacles.
This photo was priceless to me...some little kid was chanting for the USA team, and when they came by at the end they gave him a high five.
