Man Gift to My Wife Pt. 3

So, part 1 was getting the dining room updated. Part 2 was getting the living room updated. Now for part 3 I moved upstairs into the hallway and began doing some sprucing up on the second floor. For a long time Renae and I lived with a washer and dryer hanging out into the hallway at the top of the stairs...about a month ago I finally solved that problem...which leads me to this little project. You will have to excuse the bi-fold doors that hide the washer and dryer because they still need to be painted. I basically just painted the railing (that I had let sit for 6+months), added trim around the closet doors, and continued the chair rail theme to the second floor. Here are some pictures...enjoy the show!
This is the only before shot of the hallway that I could find from when Renae and I first walked though the home. It really wasn't too bad in the actual hallway. Just the laundry closet (which is behind us) was a total mess.

This is the first picture of the laundry closet I could find, and this was taken during the home inspection.
Those two weeks were filled with 11-13 hour workdays, but we got the house move-in ready in no time. This was priming the hallway walls.

After ripping out the out linoleum, which had gunk all over it, I thought it'd be nice to install a tile floor...first time ever!
After literally having the washer and dryer sitting a good 4 or 5 inches into the hallway I decided to re-route the dryer duct and play around with the washing machine.

Then I added two shelves in the laundry closet...and best of all I found the doors in the attic/office crawl space and they fit on without any fight!
This is the most previous before picture...if you were over our house yesterday, this is what it would have looked like.

Just your basic and bland tan hallway.

All taped up and ready to go! (for the record, this has been the only time I have ever used tape, and it's a lot of prep, but man does it help with the cutting in)

Doesn't look the same as when our realtor was standing there from our first walk through.

Threw a little chocolate brown on the banister...not too sure about it still.

It just looks....better. More clean. Maybe it was because Renae vacuumed too?!?!?

Still have to paint those doors, but it looks nice.
Stay tuned for more projects to come...Reiggy has a week off for the holidays!

Merry Christmas Babe! I hope that you are enjoying the beautification process of our home :-)
