Christmas Past

You've gotta love the yearly family Christmas photo in front of the stockings....sad thing is that this year both my mom and Renae's mom said that Santa would not be filling stockings...guess it's time to start leaving milk and cookies for Santa at our place!
The other day I had an idea for a Christmas blog that was going to have past time Christmas photos of some of my favorite Christmas memories. I was at my parents house last week for dinner before I surprised Renae with the painting of Logan and we were looking at all of these old school pictures, and I must have pulled out about 25 that I really liked...but then I left them at my parents house :(

I must have got my mom on the photo kick though because just two days ago I saw that she had uploaded some photos of my brother, sister and me. So I thought that I would share some of those moments here on my blog.

My brother and I were really into the movie Ghostbusters. Out of that formed a passion for anything Ghostbuster related. We had the movie, the soundtrack on cassette tape (man I'm staring to feel old), the ghost traps, the proton packs, the EKG meters, the walkie-talkies, the ecto goggles, a many more items. I don't know how put these outfits together, I think my mom made them, but they were awesome. The best thing ever was that two of our friends, who happened to be brothers, had the other two suits. So we had the complete Ghostbuster gang....I feel like I might get beat up wearing something like that now.

Now I realize why I had such an urge to go and cut down our very first Reigner Christmas tree. Every year there was a reason why we didn't but after the cats destroyed our fake tree, as mad as I was at the time, I saw it as an opportunity to finally get the real tree.

*Notice that I even brought along my very own Fisher-Price saw so that I could assist my dad in cutting down the tree.

I found this picture to be interesting because for anyone who knows my brother, you probably would not see him helping bake cookies. However, these are some of the things that I remember that are so ingrained in my mind from each Christmas that I still feel the desire to do them in my own home. In fact, right after I got in from the Christmas Eve service I felt led to bake some mint chocolate chip cookies and sprinkled sugar cookies. Last year I think that I went overboard and I made close to 10 dozen assorted cookies.

Needless to say, I was busy with house updating and getting things ready for family and friends coming over for the holidays that I did not have enough time to make all those cookies again.

Also, Christmas would not be complete without having all three of us together. I still remember my sister's first Christmas. We had to show her the ropes of what to do. But she quickly fell into the routine. I could not imagine a Christmas without seeing both of them together, and when I felt a small threat of that possibly happening this year I did everything that I could to make sure that didn't happen.
What can I say? I love family! And so from my family to yours, I wish you a Merry Christmas! I hope that you get to enjoy time with your family and create memories that you will cherish for a lifetime.

Merry Christmas!
