I've split the apps into three separate categories (today is kinda like miscellaneous) and so today I am going to focus on the app that got me thinking about making an app post...and that is the Sleep Cycle App.
I have been having some trouble sleeping in the winter months over the past few years. For some reason I just find myself being wide awake at night, which in turn makes it extremely difficult to wake up in the morning. I was playing Wii one night when Renae stumbled on a blog post (which she cannot remember anymore) about an app that would help you wake up feeling great! I doubted this ad, but couldn't resist giving it a shot...
Sleep Cycle App

So here is basically how it works. You download the app. You make sure that you have a charger plugged in by your bed.
You start the app when you are laying down to go to bed and you lay it face down by your pillow.
As you move around at night it registers your motions and graphs it out on a chart.
You set a window of time for when you want to wake up in the morning. So if I want to be up by 6, it will make the wake up window between 5:30 and 6:00. Then it decides when you are at the lightest sleep cycle in the half hour and sets off the alarm.
I was not a believer in this app until I tried it. Woke up all week around 5:30 am and had energy like none other.
I've met two others that used it and they swear by it as well.

Four Square App

The Foursquare app has become quite the rage between me and some friends as of late. It is just a social networking meets good deals jived with GPS deal-e-o.
What you do is "check-in" to various places...existing or you can create your own and you get points for "checking in." The points just rank you amongst your friends.
However, there are perks to checking in to places like restaurants, clothing stores, department stores, etc. For instance, this morning I explored local specials from where I was stopped at a red light. Little Suzy processed the info for me and gave me a list of places. Some places have specials, and most places people leave tips....like who is a good server, or whether there are deals going on.
My deal happened to be at Dunkin Donuts this morning. There was a loyalty special promo for checking in to this DD every other time.
So I checked in to the DD and got myself a free medium iced coffee. There are deals for free apps when two people at the table check in, or free chips for checking in...even 20-50% purchases at clothing stores like Old Navy, Aero and American Eagle.
Def worth looking into!
