New Years Eve was fun this year. We decided for the first time in probably 3 years to try to have people over to our place and keep it kind of low key. So we threw it out there to some of our close friends and had a small crew of people over on Saturday night. It was the first time since we have lived here that we really felt like our house is a home. Our new furniture, which I'll talk about later, fits in with our house...a lot more than the furniture that we had been using for the past 4 1/2 years. Anyways, we decided that the New Years soiree should just be appetizers, games and friends. We probably had 11 people altogether just to give you an idea. Here are some photos from the night:
| Had the perfect makings for a little 5-layer dip...always one of my favs! |
| My mom's cocktail meatballs...I have to have them at some point during the holiday season. |
| Although it appears Andrew is taking a picture with an invisible camera...well he was, but it was part of a game that we played called Quelf. Team "Biscuit Farmer" won the entire game. |
| Team "The Dude" consisted of the Kangs and Darrell. |
| Just to prove that this is actually a real game, not something that we made up. |
| Jason pretending that he is a beached wale while Bethany, a cowgirl riding an ostrich, was kicking him back into the water. |
| My challenge was to chose another player and to have a staring contest with them...sorry Kel :) |
| Team "Biscuit Farmer" taking the lead even more! |
| Darrell had to pretend that he was a rapping prison guard that had his knees super-glued together....I actually have video of this one! |
It was a good time. There was great food because everyone brought something amazing. I just actually finished eating Kel's special brownies which had peanut butter cups in the center, I am wishing that I had some more of the Kang's Buffalo Chicken dip, Nate and Kel also brought makings for Ice Cream sandwiches and Darrell had brought some really amazing spiced wine and a pepper relish and cream cheese dip.
We are blessed to have such good friends, and we lucky enough to bring in the year 2012 with them. I would have to say that the worst part of the night would be a toss up between watching Lady GaGa's performance or seeing Dick Clark host another New Years in New York.
