Something that I mentioned briefly in a previous post was how Renae and I got an amazing deal on some new furniture. Now that I have some free time I thought I might share a little bit of the story.
One night I was talking with Renae about all of the updates we were doing around the house, and mentioned that I really felt that we would notice more of a change if we could simply update our furniture. The story behind our furniture was that it was Renae's parents furniture that they had so graciously given to us when we got married. My only beef that I ever had with the furniture was that it ate things; it ate our change, the remotes, books, phones, cats...and I swear one time that it even tried to eat Logan. To keep the cushions from separating and creating deep chasm I would shove the pillows between the cushion and armrests...but then Renae would yell at me and take them back out...then next time I laid down I lost my arm, or leg...or something.

| There is the chair and sofa shortly after we had moved in to the new house. |

| There is the matching love seat on the other wall. |
Back to the real story....
I asked her how much would be realistic to spend on furniture, and what he magic number would be on walking into a store and buying furniture right then and there. She said that realistically $1500 would be what she would spend, but $1000 would be the magic number to purchase the furniture right then and there.
Now, that night and the next couple of days for some reason The Dump kept popping into my mind. I really felt led to want to check it out when two friends of mine also mentioned that we should look into The Dump because of the deals that they have gotten on furniture. On that Sunday, even though it was getting close to closing time, we left for The Dump in Oaks, PA.
After looking for an hour we found a set that we really liked, and it was within the price range ($1200) we talked about...but it wasn't the magic number.
 |
| If you look in the back to the left of the love seat, over the arm rest, you can see the ugly chair that went with the set. |
We thought we would measure the furniture and then leave to see how it would fit. In talking with the sales woman, she mentioned that for any purchase over $400 they would take $200 off of the purchase....Wait, what!?!? That placed the set right on our magic number!!!!! We saw that the set came with sofa, love seat and chair...so we asked to see the chair. We did not realize that it was an ugly behind floral print chair. So we discussed the furniture again. I asked the woman if we could get the set without the chair and she mentioned that they do not normally do that.
Hovering over her shoulder, I watched while she looked up some stuff. Then she turned and said, "I don't believe this, but we can actually sell it to you without the chair. We never do that." Renae and I knew that there was a higher power on our side ;) So she took off the chair bringing the price down to $700. Then because we went through with the purchase she let us know that we qualified for their one-day special promotional of a $100 gift card to restaurant.com. The deal had just gotten even sweeter.
Long, long story shorter...we placed our old furniture on Facebook.com for anyone looking for a set. A friend of mine from my old job contacted me and asked if he could have it, but there was one person looking at it ahead of him. The other people were ready to buy the furniture from us the very night they looked at it, but we needed to keep it for the holiday. After they left, I told Renae that I really wished that we could give it to my friend from my old job instead. Miraculously the next day I recieved an email from the interested guy, and he backed out...so we were able to bless my friend and his family with some new furniture. This whole deal just felt right.
So here are some pictures of the new furniture in our house:

| Logan and I standing in the empty room waiting for the delivery guys to show up. |
 |
| Logan thought that he heard the truck and got really really excited for what was about to happen. |
 |
| The movers were awesome, came in asked where we wanted them, and looked at the entry way and were like, "Alright, we're coming in...it'll only be a few minutes." |
 |
| I still am amazed at how quickly they brought the sofa in through the front door and turned it in. |
 |
| They put everything right where we asked them to, unwrapped the furniture, and had us look it over before they left. |
 |
| Now we can enjoy our furniture! |
 |
| And it doesn't eat me! |
