Since I started working in the office I knew that I would
have to finish up some other loose ends as well. Quite honestly the attic to
office remodel took place so quickly at the end of the summer, and came
together so well that once school started I just stopped all my work for a
little while. The unfortunate thing was that there were all these little, “O, I
can do that tomorrow” and “That will only take a few minutes” type jobs that I
left in August.
Well now it is March and those little jobs were still
sitting there undone. What I decided to do was to take small jabs at them over
a couple of days while I had the saw out, or the nail gun handy, or the paint
ready to go, and I finished them off.
Two of those small projects dealt with trim work. One was
fishing the trim around the wall coming up from the stair well and leading into
the closet. The other was finishing the trim work on the access panel that I
had made. The stairwell coming up to the closet was a little tricky, but I
think that they turned out alright.
Take a look:
There was a section of quarter round that I left off as well as the baseboard at the top of the stairs.
For some reason I confused myself with how to butt the next piece up against this...but I figured it out.
Ooops...I left a whole wall side of the closet open without any baseboard.
There that was also the eye sore of an attic entrance.
So I figured out the cuts for the baseboard.
Now I have to caulk the joints (but I ran out) and then paint it so that it matches.
Also, helps to make the entire room look and feel finished.
And there is the trimmed attic access door...when I get more caulk I'll use the semi-gloss on it to make it pop.
